Personal Experience

Carlos M. Macias is a trial attorney with Roberts, Basnuevo & Macias, P.A. Carlos is a skilled trial attorney and advocate, who dedicates his practice to litigating complex and catastrophic personal injury and motor vehicle crashes, cruise ship and boating injuries, wrongful death, products liability, and medical malpractice claims. Carlos has garnered a reputation of zealously advocating for his clients, both in and out of the courtroom, while always keeping the client’s needs and future in mind. Having secured millions in just compensation for his clients, Carlos has been recognized by his peers as a Super Lawyers Florida Rising Star, Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch, and South Florida’s 2024 Top Lawyers by the Miami Herald. He has also been recognized as one of the Top 40 Under 40 Civil Plaintiff Attorneys in Florida by The National Trial Lawyers.


Carlos counsels his clients on the critical decisions they face by focusing on the client’s specific needs on a case-by-case basis. He has experience representing clients from post-accident investigation and pre-suit representation through litigation and trial. Carlos has a background in commercial litigation, civil litigation, personal injury, intellectual property, and worked as an Assistant State Attorney at the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. While at the Miami Dade State Attorney’s Office, Carlos prosecuted hundreds of cases ranging from misdemeanors to homicides, was a member of the Traffic Homicide Unit, and tried numerous cases to verdict, both jury and non-jury. While working at a boutique Coral Gables firm, Carlos was also the lead associate on a Florida State Court case regarding the assassination of a former foreign Ambassador, which attained a $191,433,485.56 final judgment. He also has experience litigating matters involving the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (FSIA), Torture Victim Protection Act (TVPA), and the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA). Carlos also represented non-owner victims in the catastrophic Champlain Towers collapse which occurred in June of 2021, as a member of the wrongful-death non-owner subclass, which eventually resulted in over $1 Billion dollars being recovered for the victims and loved ones of victims who tragically lost their lives.


Carlos is the oldest son of Cuban immigrants and speaks fluent Spanish. He grew-up in Miami, Florida, having attended Belen Jesuit Preparatory School. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola University New Orleans, where he double majored in Marketing and Management, and went on to earn his Juris Doctor and a Certificate in International Law from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.
